I've used the following, posted by ePiallat in Feb 2009, to copy selected text :-
callStdItem_(clipCopyFlatItem)
string strRichString = stringOf(richClip)
print "Selected Text = " (plainText strRichString) "\n"
I'm struggling to find an alternative that will cut the selected text - can anyone help?

Didn't try it, but I think that clipCutItem works…

Many Thanks, that works. I'd tried clipCutFlatItem - seemed logical!

clipCutItem corresponds to Module Editor -> Edit -> Cut
For Copy there are the two entries
Edit -> Copy -> Copy (=clipCopyFlatItem) and ... Edit -> Copy -> Copy Objects with hierarchy (=clipCopyHierItem)

Thanks again Mike. I got myself a little confused with the term "item" as I was cutting selected text from "Object Text", not a complete object or selection of objects. More functions that need documenting!!
